Chic N' Cold

Moo and I can be very good procrastinators and lazy bums. However, once we decide on something there is nothing that can stop us. A great example is this blog - for a long time, we were all talk (and eat) but there was no action. With our recent decision to revive Two Chubby Girls, we made a promise to sincerely keep it going no matter what.

Why am I talking about all of this? Well, it is to emphasize how much dedication we have towards this blog. See all the pictures below? They were all taken in zero degree weather. In Vancouver. On a Sunday. So please excuse the awkward smiles, stiff poses, and super red noses and enjoy our first outfit post.

We both recently picked up a wondrously simple yet super versatile tulle dress in  a lovely shade of pale taupe. It is flattering on all sorts of body shapes and has a way of making every outfit just that bit more special. A great alternative to the infamous Little Black Dress, it will be the perfect piece to wear to all the upcoming parties.

Oh NO!! - Day at the Sauna

Wait, wait, wait ... how can we complete a day of activities without embarrassing ourselves?

While lying around by ourselves in a sauna room, we started chatting about topics not very appropriate in public. I was just finishing up my question, "So do you feel like ripping off his clothes and checking out his muscles?" when the door was opened by an older gentleman who stares at us in silence.

He obviously had heard my question.

The story does not end there. While walking back to the change room, we encounter a familiar-looking  gentleman who appears to be giving us a weird look. Moo, the only one of us who had clearly seen who had opened the door, confirmed the two to be the same.

Oh NO!!

Sweat for beauty

I knew the winter was coming when I started to hate my skin.

It was so dull and dry. My pores were clogged to the point that I went nuts. Worst of all, I started having  these bumps along my chin which had not appeared in a year. Of course, having a work schedule that messed up my sleep and diet did not help.

I tried them all - scrubs, lactic acid, hydrating masks from four different brands. Nothing would work. It seemed like all of my beloved products had lost their magic. Every day after washing my face I would stare at the whiteheads that were clogging my pores in between my eye brows (seriously, how did that happen?) and the bumps along my chin debating if I should do something or leave them in peace. Usually I end up squeezing them, which you know… turns a problem into a disaster.

I was THIS close to booking a facial. Note that I never go for a facial unless it was free or at super discount. (This IS the blog of two cheapos) Thankfully Jen-Jen stopped me from irrational behaviour by bringing up the awesome Korean sauna we went last year for our friends’ birthday. Lying on hot mineral salt in the winter time is a paradise for us living in Vancouver. Plus it is supposed to help detoxify the body and the skin. Two chubby girls started to look forward to our little trip to Coquitlam.

After much scheduling, we finally made it there last Sunday. It was paradise! For $15 each (+ tax, thanks Canada!), we stayed there for over 3 hours. They provide scrubs for you to change into and a locker to keep your clothes and belongings in. By the way, you should be prepared to be seen naked inside the change room. There are no changing nor showering stalls though women and men have separate changing rooms.

There are three saunas – salt (warm), charcoal (cool), and yellow earth (hot). You stay in the salt and yellow earth saunas for 5-10 minutes and for however long you want in the charcoal sauna. We did two rounds of all of them then hung out in the lounge in between - chatting, flipping through magazines, and watching some random Korean shows that we could not understand.

By our last go in the salt room, we could really feel that our bodies were warmed to the bones, as we started to sweat like crazy. I seriously felt like my pores could breathe again, and my body was so relaxed that it was wrapped in a cloud. To take advantage of our open pores, we applied sea mud masks on our faces. It was so perfect that they even had a hot tub we could soak our feet in while waiting to wash off the mask. After that, we showered (enjoyed some awesome PTR shampoo and
conditioner that Jen-Jen brought*), and put on the Fresh rose mask for hydration. And then…

Tah-dah! Our skin was so soft and smooth! It looked clean, supple, and had a nice glow which that had not been seen in ages!

For those of you who have some extra cash on hand, yes a personal facial and massage definitely gives you that feeling of being pampered like a queen.** But this is even better – the feeling of melting into the hot salt, the glowing skin, and having a great time catching up with friends. At $15 bucks, what more can you ask for?

*Jen-Jen: I got the PTR shampoo and conditioner for free from my trip to NYC!!

**If you do have extra cash, please share some with us.

Introduction

Welcome all to our blog. As our description states, Jen-Jen Moo is made up of two girls who met while staying in France for academic reasons. We loved to escape our little campus on the top of the mountain in search of good food during the short periods when the public transportation was not on strike. One day, after a particularly successful trip (meaning we ate nonstop for practically nothing), a brilliant idea came into our heads to share our discoveries with the world and our blog was born.

The End. Ta-dah.

Yeah right.

If you have been following closely, you should have realized by now that this blog is almost four years old. With little motivation but tons of time as students, we left the blog alone until recently when we realized that our wondrous youth is quickly passing us by. Suddenly there is a strong motivation to chronicle our loves before the mundane reality of living as grownups catches us in its grasp.

Of course even though there is more change in our pockets after graduating into the world,  it still does not do much more than chink. This is our story of two girls trying to live life to the fullest without having to worry about not having enough money to retire.

We will eat. We will act weird. We will dress very well in bad quality clothes.

So come laugh with us or laugh at us but most importantly we hope you enjoy your time here at Two Chubby Girls.

Jen-Jen Moo consists of two girls with a common passion for unnecessary carbohydrates and shopping. This has resulted a change in our body shapes (and faces) which we are still unable to classify as fat and so settled for chubby. Moo would like to clarify her face is not "fat", but just "swollen" due to various reasons ... and to which, Jen-Jen says "B.S.". We love to wander the streets in search of good food, whether it be in a 3 star restaurant or just in the stall on the street ... OK,fine, who are we kidding ... we're just two cheap fat girls who love to eat but have no money ... therefore, you'll most likely see us sharing even the cheapest snacks, like crepes. Please don't throw garbage at us, just money please. We need it to pay the bill.
